The history of Cherry Blossom 
is dated back hundreds of Years
how many hundreds - nobody knows

All over in Japan the parks are filled up during Sakura season

But there is no time on record in Japan
without Sakura

The tradition with eating and partying under the Trees
is called Hana-mi
and was started 1598 by court
and that tradition spread in the higher Circles

It was not before well into Edo-period (around 1650)
that Hana-mi tradition spread among commonfolk
